Our Story:

Mercer & Sons Woodcrafts is a family owned, custom furniture and home furnishings business located in Grand Forks, North Dakota. While our family specializes in custom built home furnishing products, we also carry inventory of many kitchen items, games, and décor. Come see us for unique handmade solid wood goods you will cherish for a lifetime. We ship nationwide and are a great source for supplying your handmade corporate gifts!

While primarily a power tool shop, each piece we construct is planed, scraped, and sanded by hand to finesse and refine the shape and feel. We start with timber of the highest quality, then use traditional and modern joinery techniques to create a heirloom quality piece.  Our hybrid woodworking approach yields top quality pieces our clients are very proud to own. Using this method, we create dining tables, coffee tables, bar tables, end tables, sofa tables, and entry benches just to name a few.

We primarily build with domestic and exotic wood species, wood slabs, epoxy, and metal.  As great-grandpa Mercer would say - “If it is made out of wood, we can make it!”

How It Began

Geoff enjoyed crafting furniture and custom item requests for years for family and friends. When sons Tommy and Charley showed interest in spending more time in the shop, they began to create together! They posted a few items online for people to see and received an overwhelming response. Mercer & Sons Woodcrafts was born!

What's in a name?

They are proud to be their family’s 2nd iteration of “Mercer & Sons”. Tommy and Charley’s great-grandfather operated a cabinet and millwork shop in Eureka, CA with his four sons by the same name. The custom cabinets advertisement and store front pictures are from their shop. Their Grandpa John - one of the OG Sons in Mercer & Sons - remembers shoveling the never ending sawdust into great big mountains with a barn shovel. One of Geoff’s first memories of making sawdust is helping his (then retired) Grandpa Mercer mill up walnut for a custom Intarsia style Bald Eagle project when he was about Charley’s age. We wish we had a picture of that!

Our Mission

Geoff, Tommy, and Charley hope to create heirloom quality pieces your family will cherish for generations.

Tommy and Charley are our favorite artisans!

Charley is an 8th grader who enjoys fishing, percussion, piano, violin, basketball, baseball, soccer, golf, baking, math, Xbox and hanging out with friends. Charley designs all of our cutting boards! His favorite tools are the #3 Stanley Smoothing Plane and our miter saw. He is excited to be driving soon!

Tommy is a sophomore studying economics, finance, and business at North Dakota State University. He enjoys singing, playing guitar, golf, soccer, Xbox, a nice fitting suit, and hanging out with friends. If you order an epoxy charcuterie board, chances are he made it! Tommy also loves working on the sales and fulfillment side of Mercer & Sons Woodcrafts.

Geoff is a vocal music and guitar teacher at Grand Forks Central High School. His favorite tool is our Carbide3d Shapeoko 5 Pro CNC. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, making music, cheering on the boys in their activities, NDSU and Chicago sports, and making sawdust.

Becky is the straw that stirs the drink! She’s a very understanding wife as well as an incredible mom. This trophy wife/mom teaches music classes by day and runs the ship here at home by night. You can find her sanding and painting, as well as wrapping the many packages we send. We couldn’t do this without her assistance, guidance, and support!
